Nonprofit and Religious Legal Counsel

Licensed in both Arizona and California, I have provided small businesses, nonprofits, and religious practitioners with hands-on legal counseling for more than 45 years. Along the way, I have had the pleasure of representing religious leaders, spiritual practitioners, mystics, channelers, churches, ashrams, temples, and dojos, as well as teachers of yoga, meditation, and eastern martial arts. Experienced with obtaining and maintaining tax exemption, issues around private inurement and charitable purpose, unrelated business income, donations, board activities, and drafting policies and practices that maximize harmonious operations.

Academic Background and Legal Journey

During the mid-1970s I studied the Chinese classics and eastern religious traditions at the National Taiwan University (國立臺灣大學) in Taipei, Taiwan, as part of my graduate studies. After seeing the dynamism of the island, I left academia and became a business lawyer, first in California, where I still maintain an office in Palo Alto, and now also in Arizona, with an office in Anthem.
